Whilst carrying out research in to designing a shelter for Network Rail formerly known as Railtrack in (1998), Macemain + Amstad were asked to look at the original design of the Paragon shelter and examine the design to try to combat criminal damage .
Every aspect of the original design was examined and modified to produce the Paragon Anti-Vandal Shelter which was successfully designed and built to withstand vandalism on the Britain 's railways.
Deterring Vandals
The shelter was placed on an unmanned railway station and the shelter stood up to a two year period of abuse by vandals.
Features of the Paragon Anti-Vandal Shelter
The Paragon Anti-Vandal Shelter has significantly reduced maintenance costs and higher specification materials guarantee longevity of the shelter. The AV is built from solid stainless steel and can withstand the rigorous demands of the transport environment.
The shelter is used throughout Britain 's network of stations and as a passenger waiting shelter can incorporate heating, lighting and CCTV.
