Upon retirement of founder of SMDI, management of Macemain Engineering Limited amalgamated the two companies under the banner of SMDI (Macemain) Limited.

Acquisition of new factory in Wimbledon, London , and company re-named Macemain Engineering Limited.

Second factory built on Wimbledon site to accommodate the company's own seven stage pre-treatment and coating plant.

Acquisition of site and construction of new purpose-built factory in Corby, Northamptonshire to house computer-aided manufacturing plant and machinery,

Acquisition of Amstad Systems Limited, manufacturers of bus shelters with design and manufacturing capabilities for glazed walkways and entrance canopies.

Acquisition of adjacent site and construction of second factory on Corby site to house coating and pre-treatment plants.
